Michael Bloomberg

President Trump trashed 2020 Democrat Mike Bloomberg, calling the septuagenarian a "terrible speaker" and mocking the billionaire's height at 5 feet, 8 inches.

"Mini Mike Bloomberg doesn’t get on the Democrat Debate Stage because he doesn’t want to - he is a terrible debater and speaker," tweeted Trump on Friday. "If he did, he would go down in the polls even more (if that is possible!)."

The president further slammed Bloomberg in a follow-up tweet soon after, saying, "Mini Mike Bloomberg ads are purposely wrong - A vanity project for him to get into the game. Nobody in many years has done for the USA what I have done for the USA, including the greatest economy in history, rebuilding our military, biggest ever tax & regulation cuts, & 2nd A!"

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg presidential campaign in New York City

Bloomberg, 77, has spent wildly this primary season, pumping an estimated $200 million of his wealth into a campaign that has lacked enthusiasm from voters. He opted to self-fund his campaign, forgoing any opportunity to meet the grassroots donor threshold required by the Democratic National Committee to participate in the primary debates.

The former New York City mayor has vowed to donate $1 billion to whoever becomes the Democratic nominee and has dumped big money into swaying gun control legislation in battleground states such as Virginia. He is currently polling 6.6% in the latest national polling average from RealClearPolitics.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow praised President Donald Trump after the team’s visit to the White House Friday, saying that the president showed everyone “so much love.”

Burrow’s comments were reported by Bloomberg reporter Jordan Fabian who tweeted the player’s remarks.

“Joe Burrow on Trump,” Fabian tweeted. “He showed so much love to everyone on our team. I don’t care if you’re a Republican, Democrat, don’t care about politics at all, that was an awesome experience for everybody.”

The president joked with Burrow during the team’s White House visit.
“After breaking a bone in his hand playing at Ohio State, Joe sat on the bench and wasn’t happy about it, I heard he was not thrilled,” Trump said to Burrow, a Heisman Trophy winner.
“Not my best one,” Burrow said in reply.
“He didn’t like it.” Trump added. “I heard stories. He was going a little crazy. Then the coach took charge and took a chance and brought him to LSU. Joe soon became the best quarterback in all of college football — and not close — because he set an NCAA record with 60 touchdowns — I’ve never even heard of that, 60 — in a single season, averaging a touchdown every quarter, and won the Heisman Trophy by the largest margin in the history of the Heisman Trophy.”
Trump also called Burrow a “young Tom Brady” and predicted great things for the young player’s future.
“Joe, I want to say, on behalf of the country, that you make our country very, very proud,” Trump said. “You’re really an inspirational talent and all of that. But you’re an inspirational player and you’re an inspirational person. And you have a heart that’s incredible, and you have a team that respects you so much.”

President Trump said he would try to visit Mount Rushmore on the Fourth of July to watch the planned fireworks.

"I called up our people and in 15 minutes got it approved, and we will have the first fireworks display at Mount Rushmore, and I will try and get out there if I can," Trump said Wednesday.

Trump has brushed off environmental concerns about the fireworks display at the South Dakota landmark,
which has not had fireworks since 2009 when they were discontinued over concerns related to the pine beetle infestation in the Black Hills National Forest.

A U.S. Geological Survey from 2016 pointed to past fireworks displays as the likely cause for increased concentrations of contaminants in groundwater near the monument.

South Dakota reached an agreement with the Interior Department to ensure the celebration is safe, Gov. Kristi Noem said in May.

"You also are going to have a very exciting Fourth of July," Trump told Noem in December.
